What’s Changing
The Window Covering Manufacturers Association (WMCA) announced today the approval of the updated voluntary window covering safety standard by the American
National Safety Institute (ANSI)
The revised updated safety standard ANSI/WMCA A100.1-2022 strengthens window covering safety by eliminating the use of free hanging operating cords, free hanging tilt cords, and multiple cord connectors on all made to order custom window covering products. The compliance date to the new standard for all companies manufacturing, distributing or selling window covering products is June, 1, 2024.
Cordless Lift, Retractable Wand, Motorization or Continuous Cord Loop with new redesigned Tension Devices will be the operating choices on most products going forward.
Window Covering Safety Council
The Window Covering Safety Council (WCSC) reminds families to check their window coverings for exposed or dangling cords that can pose a strangulation hazard to infants, young children, and pets.
